Booming increase of Online Payments in Kosovo

Since its debut, people have been enamored with the idea of sending money to pay for goods and services without necessarily having to be physically present at the point of sale. Offering consumers more ways to efficiently pay bills and purchase the things they want should be a key objective for all modern business owners.

Online payments play a critical role in the continued growth and development of the global economy, and harness the internet’s potential as a trading platform, stimulating competition and economic growth. The industry operates behind the scenes to allow a trade to occur conveniently and efficiently over the internet. And today, innovative online payments are breaking the boundaries of the online world to enter bricks and mortar stores. Technology, such as mobile wallets, allow consumers to purchase goods at the click of a button from an online or offline store.

Kosovo too has seen a tremendous increase in online payment in recent years. With a population of just over 1.8 million, of which 56% are under 35 years old, Kosovo ranks in the top 5 in Europe for Internet Access by covering 93% of its population. And just like anyone else, they expect a seamless shopping experience even across borders – and increasingly want more choice when it comes to payment methods.

In terms of transfers and payments, the total of bank transfers in 2021 was around 21 billion euros where 69% of it was made through e-banking. The main spending categories are travel, internet-based services, consumer goods, foreign e-commerce platforms, crypto, etc.

The ecommerce4all.eu platform, a resource and information center on key e-commerce aspects for all CEFTA markets (North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Moldova), showcases even more interesting details about the online purchasing power of Kosovo users.

The positive influence of Online Payments

    Speed

When it comes to payment transactions, the speed of the payment method is crucial. That is why online sellers prefer payment methods that are quick and easy to use. Sellers are more inclined to receive their payments either simultaneous with the purchase transaction or within the same day. And this is why they would prefer modern online payment methods due to quick transaction clearing.

To help improve speed, various options have been added when accepting payment for online transactions, one of which is the payment solution offered by financial services companies. In one of the surveys conducted, the online payment method is practically as famous as card payment. The former has a nearly identical percentage of patrons to that of the latter.

    Cost Reduction

Another factor for the growing popularity of online payment is the reduction of transaction expenses, especially personnel costs. Transaction expenses may be imposed when using a manual payment method such as a check, money order, cash, or even EFTPOS. This can include but is not limited to, transportation costs, postage, and even physical store overhead costs.

    Convenience

One of the most widely used terms to describe online payment is convenience. In terms of online payment, convenience is a two-way street. The payor benefits from this payment method because there is no need to go to a real business or even a bank to withdraw cash if they run out. Setting up an online payment account is also easier for both the payee and the payor, as it eliminates the need to fill out a lot of paperwork.

    Affordability

The majority of online payment system providers charge little or no setup fees. When it comes to transaction fees, most online payment gateways are less expensive than e-banking systems. In some instances, online payment providers will even offer a sign-up bonus or significant discounts for first-time users.

We can take Burger King as an example of how an application basically allows customers to order their favorite meals online and also gives them the power to manage orders digitally.

Thanks to our development and the integration in the mobile app, the solution has been implemented in several of Burger King’s branches across Kosovo and Albania and in addition, through the integrated payment system, customers can use any card as a payment method.

    Customer Support

If you’ve tried any banking transactions and had some issues, you might have already experienced some difficulties interacting with their customer service. Even if you will be communicating online, responses may be delayed, especially during the holidays.

On the other hand, modern online payment systems provide excellent customer service even on holidays. You do not need to go to their office to express your worries or issues.

Furthermore, some of these online payment service companies have a live chat or phone support system that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Challenge Yourself to Greater Results!

Online sellers should not settle for anything less than what they deserve. That is why online payment systems or services mentioned above should be really taken advantage of and we will only see a payment processing scheme that is safer, faster, and operates how consumers and merchants need.
